Here at Rebel Loop Studios, we love collaborating and engaging with a wide variety of charities in Scotland and beyond. Part of our mission at Rebel Loop involves making a positive impact on society and allowing an environment where diversity thrives through our work, and that is why we love working with charities.

Over the last year, we have had the opportunity to work with a number of amazing charities who aim to support young people from a wide variety of backgrounds. Each of these charities share similar fundamental and core values each revolving around empowerment, inclusion and continuous improvement of young people.

Three charities that we have now established a regular collaborative working partnership with are Dyslexia Scotland , FIRST STEPS FUTURE TRAINING LIMITED and Forces Children Scotland .

Charity - Rebel Loop Studios — Rebel Loop Studios

Rebel Loop have recently finished a short documentary-style video in collaboration with FIRST STEPS FUTURE TRAINING LIMITED , a charity that helps disadvantaged young people gain practical training in Construction to develop independence, ambition and assist with employment prospects. Each interview was set up in the First Steps training facility or the participants working environment to allow the audience a feel for the training centre and to make the participants feel comfortable being interviewed for the first time. On all shoots we work with broadcast cameras and cinema lenses, shooting videos in C-LOG. This allowed for a cinematic documentary style for this video.

This video follows three young participants and their journey of participating in First Step’s training programme, ‘No-one Gets Left Behind’. The programme aims to introduce construction training to young people in areas such as joinery, painting and decorating, groundwork, brickwork and hard and soft landscaping. Once basic skills in these areas have been covered and the young people have attained their certificates and site cards, they are then placed within a construction company of their preferred trade who will possibly offer them an apprenticeship following their placement.

Rebel Loop are delighted to have worked with Dyslexia Scotland on several occasions, a charity that aims to create a dyslexia-friendly Scotland and to inspire and enable all people with dyslexia to realise their potential on a variety of inspiring projects.

Trevor, MD of Rebel Loop, is severely dyslexic and had the honour of speaking at the annual Dyslexia conference after sharing his documentary, ‘No More Secrets’. Rebel Loop were invited to film the Dyslexia Scotland Conference 2023, an informative event that involved a day full of workshops, keynote speakers, and strategic partners who offer resources such as books, games and vital information surrounding dyslexia.

We created an event video interviewing guest speakers and attendees about their experience of the event – celebrating neurodiversity. Rebel Loop have also provided animations for educational purposes, working with graphic designers and animators to produce a high quality and engaging asset.

We support children and young people from armed forces and veteran families to realise their potential and thrive across Scotland.

In collaboration with Forces Children Scotland we have produced a series of podcasts with young people sharing their experiences of being a child of someone in the forces and their experiences of boarding school. Also a series of podcasts with veterans discussing their experiences of being in the forces and podcasts series discussing mental health. All podcasts were filmed here at Rebel Loop studio where we have a dedicated multipurpose studio space equipped with industry standard camera, lighting and sound equipment.

Rebel Loop also had the pleasure of curating a week long residency where Trevor and Mark, content production crew, delivered film workshops that included pre-production, planning scriptwriting and storyboarding. This was a great experience allowing the participants to be hands on with industry standard camera and sound equipment, filming the ideas they had prepared. Participants were also given an introduction to basic post production skills, having them in the studio to edit what they had created during the residential week.

We are aware that it can be difficult for charities and organisations to release regular content to tell their own stories, and that is why we are here to help and go the extra mile when it comes to dealing with their social strategy. This strategy may include how to create social media content, how to communicate, empower and educate through the power of film and ultimately how to broaden their audience and spread their message further.

Our favourite parts about engaging with the charities and the young people they work with is listening to their stories, being able to inspire and encourage them to try new things through film, and seeing them challenge themselves. This experience not only inspires us as filmmakers, but also reminds us of the reason we love our craft!
